Campaign length can vary, but mine are typically 21 days.

Firstly, it is important to know that you do not pay unless the campaign meets its funding goal. If & when it does, you money is collected after the campaign ends. I like Kickstarter because they do not collect anything until the end –– they don't even put a hold on your funds with your card/bank.

There will always be a clear, projected fulfillment date listed on every campaign, and the timing varies. If any delays are expected, I update all backer immediately with clear and consistent communication until packages are received.

Several reasons:

• Kickstarter has a clear start and end date with which to collect funds for the project. Pre-orders can mean a slow trickle of income over a long period of time. By using Kickstarter, you're allowing me to have the funds on hand to order all items in bulk to ship & everyone at once, that way Mr. Darling doesn't have to shell out money that I can *hopefully* replace.
• FREE SHIT! If you've ever used Kickstarter, you know that we love hype. For every financial goal we meet, I give you something for free (stretch goals) simply because you supported my campaign. (past items include vellum sheets, art prints, enamel pins, bonus chapters, and more)
• Top tier, series branded merch you can shop and add to receive with your books. I don't ever do this with simple pre-orders because it's just too much on me and you. With the campaign layout, however, it's easy shopping all in one!
